How fast do you drive your rig?

I guess that's where so many people differ as we never considered owning or bought a motor-home, until time was no longer of an essence.
We did have a TT and rented an occasional coach, but even then, it wasn't so much for speed in saving time, as it was for spending a lot more hours on the road. I still say that you can't control one of these behemoths, like you can a car and especially in an emergency situation.

I normally set the cruise control at 62 and try to stay around that speed when not on cruise control. My Chevrolet Equinox which I tow is not suppose to be towed over 65 mph.

Maybe comfortably, but you're kidding yourself if you think that is "safely." There is no way that MH will stop as quickly as the SUV in front of you will or as safe to control if a front tire blows. You have 23% more energy to deal with at 72 mph than at 65 mph.

1600 rpm = 62 mph on the flat. We are full time so when we get there is immaterial.

Looking at page 5 again, it looks like those who travel slower than the average are at a greater likelihood of being involved in an accident.

Naturally, my speed varies with conditions. But, on an open interstate in the middle of the day with light traffic, I'll usually put the cruise control on in the low 70's - 71-73MPH. But, that's a Bluebird - it will travel at that speed comfortably and safely.

I previously had a 1990 Winnebago. It would travel comfortably at about 65. It felt squirrely to me above that unless there was NO traffic and NO wind. I usually stuck it on cruise control at 65 and left it there.

If all RV's were sold for the same price, I would own a Prevost. For me that is the dream RV. But alas I am a simple working monkey and don't have enough bananas for one.

If I did have one I don't think I would travel at 80 MPH in heavy traffic. I think I would do 25 MPH so everyone could check me out. :) Men would want to be me. woman would want to be with me and kids would wonder how my super hero cape fits under my shirt. Or at least in my head that is what would be going on.

Posted speeds for me but not over 60mph.
