how hard is it to replace toilet?

My my came with a thetford their cheaper plastic model. Besides being uncomfortable its too high. I want to get a low profile China bowl. I'm just wondering how hard it is to replace or if there are things I could run into that would totally screw me up.

I'm about to go on a week trip so I'd like to do this but if there is any chance something could go horribly wrong I'd rather just wait till I get back.

It looks super easy though. Only iffy is if the seal fits like its supposed to. Assuming a new toilet would come with a seal or are they all the same?

  • It's easy, or at least I think it is.

The toilet is secured to the flange around the discharge pipe by two bolts. In between the flange and the toilet is a rubber seal. You can reuse the old one or replace it with a new, which I would recommend. The toilet lifts straight up.

The water supply line should be somewhat generic. You may have to change some fittings or replace with a longer or shorter flexible line, but that should be obvious.
