For wiring, I ran the wires under the car to separate bulbs and sockets in the blank taillight section. We use the brake in a box, no problem using in another vehicle.
Be advised the base plate is vehicle specific and the only other vehicle it could be transferred to would be another 12, 13 or 14 CRV.

I did that job back when I bought the CR-V. I hope to to sell the CR-V to someone who wants to tow it since it is still in excellent shape. I'll have to go to a different brand vehicle since the new CR-V automatic is not towable.
