I guess now it's a "Raging Inferno"! Hey, at least you know they live up to their name!
I was going to say the trailer was well named. but you basically said the same thing.
Now Ironic would be a fire engine on fire
(Happened in Detroit, brand new high pressure pumper. not the vehicle's fault.. got caught up in the fire it was fighting). - Executive45Explorer IIIYou do realize how HOT it would be around that truck. If you've never experienced being close to a fire burning that hot you can't appreciate what it takes to try to "save" something. I'd just get out and let it go. I have insurance...glad everyone was ok.
Interestingly enough, just the other day we were discussing here on RV.net, the pros and cons of folks riding in the fifth wheel and/or TC while underway. Yes, it's legal in California to allow passengers to ride in a fifth wheel while traveling....:S...Dennis - dodge_guyExplorer III agree on how some people respond to pics like this! I'de like to see how they like it if it was there RV instead!
I know it's hard to make decisions in a situation like that, but I would've pulled the pin on the fifth wheel and drove out from under it, damaged bed rails and all. But like I said, you always think clearer when you aren't under any pressure.
Glad everyone was OK! - 3sacrwdExplorerGlad everyone is OK. Not much to laugh at.

Thanks for the educated remarks and concern on some part....actually my husband and I were the owners of the camper. My husband and son were taking the camper to the Gulf for the holiday weekend, but unfortunately there was an electrical short that caused the fire. The truck had to have a little assistance be unattached from the camper. For bright eyes above this is a camper with electric jacks…fire started..no electricity.. therefore you are not able to lift the jacks to get the camper off the truck. They did get out and we are fine, but there is not much left of the camper or our two Harley Davidson Motorcycles. I commend the Spanish Fort police and fire who defiantly displayed the epitome of true heroes. This could have turned out a lot worse, but thanks to their quick actions and proficient knowledge the fire was put out and traffic was never disturbed. Well except for the rubbernecking..
Blogs that allow such comments as posted above are the problem with society today. They show the true colors of or community… No concern for others life or property. Thanks to one individual sober by noon that actually showed a bit of concern. I wish I could add to the thrill of others dirty laundry, but unfortunately we are an average Christian family with normal lives….. - downtheroadExplorerI have a sense of humor..laugh a lot, but to me (a hard core RV'er) this makes me sad..
As they say, "There but for fortune go you and I." - newman_fulltimeExplorer IIpic has been around awhile there are other angles the guy was at a rest area when it went up

Actually, this thread most likely belongs in "Around the Campfire", no pun intended. But looks as if the driver is still in the truck. What's he doing? Unless, moving it away from other vehicles, or campsite, but look to be on the road? - BTPO1Explorer

Unhitch the trailer and drive like the wind away from that thing.
X2, at least you could save the truck if you had the time to do it safely. No vehicle is worth your life if it is not safe to unlatch the pin. JMO
