How to read engine codes,Windsor Monaco 40PST,ISL 370

Agree with Scott above. Our '08 Monaco has an Alladin Jr. system tied into the backup camera display, it works like what the OP described, and does not provide any engine diagnostic info.

Higher end Monaco's have the full alladin, which is very similar to silverleaf.

Medalion replaces the panel above the gauges where the idiot lights are. An optional system in our '08 Knight that I don't have and wish I did.

Well Sir, not really. If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, what you're seeing on the monitor is what's called "Trip-Tek" information. It's an option ordered by the original purchaser that does in fact, display, as an "overlay" on the cameras screen, things exactly what you described. Things like trip information, odometer, engine temp, oil pressure, water temp, turbo boost and such.

But, it does not have the ability to acquire that technical data which you seek. The only factory item that I know of that will display what you're seeking is the Medallion Information Center. It's the LCD screen, about 2" high x about 3" long. It will receive data from the "Annunciator" panel (the long light bar with all the colored icons). If, there's something going on, like a code or a problem of some sort, the annunciator panel picks it up from the MMDC (Multi-Data-Module-Computer) via what's called the "J1939" data link, and, that annunciator panel then sends specific information to that Medallion Information Center.

Now, if there is a code, or has been, that system will store it until it's cleared. The only way for you to see that code is to dive into that little LCD screen and dig it out. And the only way for that to be done is to know the entrance code for the "Engine Service" part of one of the many screens that appear on that LCD screen.

Typically, the code numbers for entrance into that system are: 8127.

If you have such a system, and in fact get to the point where it's wanting the codes, you can try and toggle those numbers in and see what info it displays for you. Now, even if you get this far, it will only spit out, the codes, in numbers. It will not tell you what exactly each code, if there's more than one, is. You'll have to get the information that equals the code numbers. Hope this helps some.

Well Sir, you list the type and model of rig you have but not the chassis. Unless I missed it some place. If it's a Freightliner chassis, not only should you have a 9 pin diagnostic port to the left and low of the steering column but, most Freightliner chassis vehicles also have one in the rear, just above the radiator. But if you have a side radiator, I'm not exactly sure if and where, you'd have that diagnostic port at the rear. Maybe in the same area as it would be if there was a rear radiator.

But, this port of course would be for plugging into while being stationary. Also, if you by chance have what's called the Medallion Information Center in your dash, you can dial into the engine service section and find codes, if any are active or, inactive. You'd need the entrance code of four numbers to access this part of that info center. I don't know if any of this info will help you or not, just thought I'd throw it out at ya.

With the Silvefleaf it is displaying as you are driving. Let's you customize gauges for trans temp etc.

Their tech support was very helpful explaining my codes.

By the way, I own a Freightliner FLD112 semi tractor with a Cat C12. I will check out if it has a diagnostic connection, it is a year 2000 model truck.

On my 01 HR Imperial there is a rocker switch on the dash with all the other switches called diagnostic. With engine off turn on the key with this switch engaged and it will blink out a code in a series of blinks. I read a code on mine that turned out to be a fuel pump problem. I googled cummins codes and it showed me what it was. When I took it in to a cummins dealer they hooked up their computer to the diagnostic port under the steering column and read the same code.

My plug is under the dash left of the steering column. Round.
Freight liners that vintage (mine is 05) have a display panel for Diags. I have the dealer pass code but found their codes useless.

I would email or call Silverleaf to see if they support yours. Guessing they do.

If you plan on keeping your rig the peace of mind will be worth it.

I now know that if I am driving down the road and a light pops on Ill
know why saving agonizing over it.

It sounds like you got something wet which glitched for a minute. Are any of the warning lights still on.

The ATC stands for Automatic Traction Control. In wet weather as you describe, you could have lost traction which would have triggered the ATC to stabilize the coach. It could have been the ATC coming on that caused some lights to illuminate.
