I would be afraid that the bit would catch in the slot and make a mess out of the tube. I would use a high speed Dermal tool with a conical grinding bit (tapered sandpaper cone) and end up with a nice smooth slot to slide the bread on the strap into. When I first looked at this project that is what I was going to do.
Works just fine..clean smooth slanted opening.
