- TwoTechiesExplorerFYI, Anyone going through the area in CA where the bridge was washed out should have no concerns as the only slow down is at the construction site. East bound is moved to the west bound bridge one lane each way. The only slow down was the construction speed (45mph). CHP is there. Several cars found out. Traveling in the rig pulling the toad to CA and back to AZ was uneventful. Just some rough surface areas.

If you are in Oregon, Hearst Castle is a must see. I like architecture so Frank Lloyd Wright homes are always at the top of my list. Hollyhock house in Hollywood is neat to see.

Hearst Castle is neither in Oregon, nor along the poster's route on I-10, but I grant, it would be nice to see. - afrescopXxExplorerWe live in San Antonio and use I-10 when going east toward FL. Yes, there are some crummy spots on the road in LA but nothing that would stop us from going that way. As far as hail, well that is mainly a Springtime phenomenon. Right now and most of the rest of the year there is no hail. Very hot all summer. I-10 is an excellent way to go.
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerWe are leaving CA next week headed to FL going straight out I-10 all the way. Not excited hearing about the rough road conditions in Louisiana. Every State seems to have their share of rough roads.

I've heard this all the time about I-10. So, what other route could be taken outside of I-10? Is this the only way east to west or west to east if driving the southern states?
