I'd like your opinion

What do you think about a 1999 Fleetwood Southwind Storm that is well maintained going on a three thousand mile trip? We have roadside assistance, extended service plan and just added travel assist.

  • If it's well maintained and the tires are good, I wouldn't hesitate to take a long trip.

Don't worry about the age, condition is the important factor.

Do you know how old some of the airliners are that fly thousands of passengers every day? :)
  • My opinion would be to go for it and don't worry - the worry can interfere with the enjoyment.
  • There are thousands of older rigs going farther. The one variable, only you can answer, is what is your tolerance for potential problems? Some people will have panic attacks if they run out of windshield wiper fluid, other people would respond to the engine seizing up and dying by popping open beer and singing along with Doris Day" "Que sera sera, whatever will be, will be. The future's not ours to see, que sera sera.". (totally random aside, who, like me, is totally surprised that Doris Day is still alive and kicking?)
  • Date code and condition of tires? If the tires are more than 6-7 years, I would be especially leery about heading off on a trip like that.
  • My 1990 makes it from Northern New York to Arizona and back every year.
Check tire dates and air pressure.
    Carry a spare
    HAVE FUN
