I would start by checking to see if you have any arcing going on with the spark plug wires at night,they are probably 15 years old. You will have to remove the dog house cover to see, mine is tight also but I'm sure it will come out. Once the cover is off start the engine and let it idle if you see any arcing to the eng block replace the wires. Let us know what you find.
