If you had to buy again today...

New to this site but Enjoyed reading this post....
Wife and I are about 12-18 months away from full timing.....
A lot of good info to think about, as for us we are looking at 38 foot or so with the perfect layout. The more I read the more questions I have.

I have a Box trailer that with the contents is probably 7000-8000lbs
We live in IN and mainly will be using the rig on the weekends (racing). Just me the wife and son. Currently we have a 33' 1985 Holiday Rambler. We have not attempted to pull the trailer yet and not sure I really want to. Being a 1985, we are looking to move into something newer. I feel a Diesel is a must, yet I know plenty of people pulling with gas and do just fine, and gas does save you $$.
I am OK with 30-40' in length, would like better floor plan as current beds are all twins. Thoughts based on those who tow??

You should probably be looking for a 10K lb hitch rating, along with your search, as well and pretty much a deal breaker if you ever want to tow that heavy of a load. Most are 5K towing and 500lb hitch weight and even lighter specs are not uncommon.

Go diesel, lots more torque then gasoline motors. And gasoline has been like .80 cents a gallon more then diesel now for over a year here in California.

. I agree with Mike if I was full time I would want to go bigger. My wife would never full time so I would want a 30-34 ft MH with 2 slides or a full wall slide , 80-100 gals of FW, full basement storage with two pass throughs for storing bikes, table, ladder etc. I dry camp most of the so I would want a propane refer. If I could find a 30 ft MH that meets these req's I would get that. My current one is 33.7 ft with one slide. I could not use a 43 ft MH where I want to camp.
