IFS vs solid front axel

I have a 1996 GBM P-30 chassis which has IFS. I have spent a fair amount of money on worn front end parts, coil spring replacement, etc over 8 years of ownership and 93k miles. The MH drives well no wandering or problems from passing trucks. The newer chassis have the solid front axles which look much simpler. Are they more durable? Any parts that need replacing? Do they ride as good as the IFS?

  • Clearly, solid front axle suspensions have far fewer parts.

Not sure there is a blanket "one rides/handles better than the other".

Kind of like asking if 4 wheel MacPherson struts are a good suspension: I don't know-- did you drive a Ford Escort or BMW 7 series-- both with 4 wheel MacPherson strut suspension.

Said another way, type of front suspension is just one of many components that determine handling and ride.
