Sometimes when I run electric heaters in my RV my furnace will only blow cold air. To make my furnace blow hot air I have to turn my thermostat way up and then it will light the furnace and blow warm air. I believe the electric heaters heat the air enough to cause the furnace blower to turn on but because the air is warm the furnace does not light.
There should be no smell of gas.
