Incident with American RV'er.

10 am this Sunday morning my son calls me from Richmond Virginia. They are ready to leave for Virginia Beach ( him, his wife and 4 children, ages 8 to 17. They had left Toronto, Ontario on Friday.
Hooks up his popup trailer lights; back clearance lights, tail lights and brake lights don't work. Now I am 70 years young and he is 44 years old. Never wanted to watch me repair things or when I was repairing the family cars, never interested.
Hey dad what do I do now, what could it be? I say to him, well I am a little far away to jump in the RV to come and fix it for you. Are you sure the connecting plug or wires have not dragged on the road, which happened to him before. NO. There could be a broken wire somewhere in the trailer. I don't know where to even start looking for that Dad.
Okay now son, listen to me very carefully, are you listening?
Walk around the campground and take the 2 smallest kids with you. Find an American RV'er and ask for help, I tell him Americans are the most helpful people especially if they are RV'ers.
First gentleman he asks comes with him right away and the problem is solved in 2 minutes.
THANK YOU ALL, you have proven my point again.
That is one of the reasons we prefer to travel in the USA.
  • I know I am counting on that helpfulness and knowledge base once I drag my nused TT down to Florida this winter and need to set it up on my campsite. I dont have a clue how to do more than plug the electricity in.
  • I thought Canada was part of America; North Americans all.

Agreed, no matter where you are

Wouldn't the same assistance happen in Canada?

I would like think that the same assistance would occur anywhere there is a gathering of campers.
  • Better yet. Open the hood on his vehicle.

He will have a dozen folks gathered around in less than 5 minutes and someone will know how to solve the problem.

It's just the way we are. :)
