Those Mahindra trucks are diesel so it probably gets decent gas mileage. Reminds me of the old Toyota Class C's.

Interesting. I do like the simplicity of the interior. A nice contrast to the glitzy decor of most of our domestic RVs.

Several years ago Mahindra began making plans to sell their 1/2 ton pickups here in the USA. They started by establishing North American dealerships, prts supply networks etc. Big promises were made and dealers plunked down cash for a chance to sell these Pickups.

The bad news was that the engines were underpowered, the trucks were extremely "industrial" (as in lacking things we take for normal such as carpet, air conditioning and quality control!) and Mahindra couldn't get them certified for the EPA and they failed the Federal Crash Tests.

So they added a hideous chrome "bully guard" to the front end, side step bars and roll bars to try to comply and again went thru the mandated crash tests...failed again and were never seen again!

As a matter of fact the recent crash test information AND EPA mandated emmission tests on the Mahindra submitted for the proposed 2014 Mahindra were done in 2009!

A Mahindra Truck selling here in the USA? Wanna bet!

They do make a ton of agricultural farm tractors however.

Since you're in Australia, you already drive on the wrong side of the road in a vehicle with the steering column on the wrong side of the vehicle, you should be all set.
I've always wondered, since you live on the bottom side of the equator, does the blood automatically rush to your head, and do women have to avoid wearing dresses? :)

The outside of that home car looks sort of familiar.

Their smaller trucks remind me of the older pre-Tacoma Toyota Hilux design. A truck design that is darn near bulletproof.

My first official vehicle purchase was one of those, and even though it was way underpowered to the point of frustration, it was unkillable, and I knew it would run in the morning. Of course, the fact it was a single cab made it not much fun for long trips.

I can see a company continuing to make a clone of that design of vehicle. It may not be up to 2014 EPA standards, but it is good enough to survive the rigors of rough roads and the fact that maintaining any type of vehicle can be an issue.

As for the class "C", I also like the interior's simplicity. I've wondered why someone can't make a class "B" like that (simply made, but well built) similar to the Westies of yore.

Closest thing on the market here has been the Traverse from Pleasureway, which might no longer be marketed, probably because the market wasn't buying it.

You could probably get a relatively simple conversion from Sportsmobile, and there are a few other smaller companies doing conversions.

My first thought was also that it looked like a Tiger. :C

Did you hear the man at the end mention that fact that at the moment, India has no "caravan parks." So they are really at the beginning of RVing in the subcontinent. I wonder if it will ever catch on there. They certainly have a significantly sized middle class that might be able to afford it soon... and Indians have a tradition of touring their own country.

I don't expect that this company has any fantasies of selling these in the US.
