It's most likely not safety glass (windshield) It's probably tempered glass like auto side windows and patio doors. If you drill it will likely shatter. The hole must be part of the manufacturing process. No different than the mounting holes in shower doors for handels. If I'm correct you will have order it custom made.
that said I'd go with lexan or plexiglass home Depot lowes.
