NO ONE can tell you what company is best unless they live next door to you, have the same coach, driving record, credit score and coverage. You're going to have to shop several companies to find the best deal for you. As an example, I had State Farm for 25 years until they decided to quit writing auto policies in California and their prices rocketed. Since they showed no allegiance to me, I didn't show any to them and moved on to AAA. At the same time, someone in another state is getting a great price with State Farm. The prices are just all over the place.
The only thing you can do is spend some time and shop around. Replacement cost will always be expensive. Real value is cheaper, but there is another choice. If you're concerned that you owe more than it's worth, buy a policy that pays it off, rather than replacement coverage.
I have $1000.00 deductible, but lowered my comprehensive to $100.00 to cover windshield replacement. This isn't like the old days where you had an agent that was there to serve you. It's now a business to squeeze EVERY dollar out of your wallet. They won't show an allegiance to you, so I no longer show an allegiance to them....price goes up, I go shopping and look to see if there's a better deal.
