Newer D/A owners, please chime in.
In my quest of purchasing a new TV/DD, I decided to swing by my local GMC dealer this weekend to check out their offerings.
The only Duramax they had was a 3500 Denali. Took it for a ride and was impressed. Felt very light on steering and braking and throttle response was nice. It was a bit bouncy, but it was an unloaded 3500. I am in the market for 2500 so I assume it will be a bit softer.
Curious how these trucks hold up long term? I realize the 2015 redesign is still pretty new, but the powertrain has been around for a bit. I am aware they are IFS, but for the weight I am towing I don't see that being a limiting factor.
Things I liked:
-Drives a lot like a gasser. Not too noisy and good throttle response/power available.
-Tow gear available (3.73 standard) compared to Ram/Ford.
-Nice interior
-Console setup is big and useful
-Modern amenities like lane control, LED/HID head lights
-Massive fuel tank
Things I didn't like:
-Why can't GM make a steering wheel straight?
-4x4 and brake controller on left side of wheel.
-Cooled seat option only on Denali model
-No heated rear seats. It's available on it's competitio
-DEF under the hood- I am tall and it's hard to reach. Tank seems to hang low but I wouldn't be rock crawling it.
-Lame wheel options
-Lack of a sliding rear window on some expensive models. The one I drove was $67K MSRP and had no sliding rear window.
-Nav screen look ok, but the area surrounding it makes it look like a base model.
Overall I thought it was a very good vehicle. Drove nice, looks nice. Curious how they hold up though. My GFs 2007 Tahoe was nice but the leather didn't fair well. The Electronics didn't either. It did make it to 180K miles before she got rid of it and it was dependable aside for the little things.
for those that tow with the D/A combo on a newer platform, how do you like it? Any major issues? I know Ford/GM had fuel pump issues early but it appears those issues have been worked out.
Appreciate any feedback on these vehicles.
