Newer Dodge ram owners

Me too. I like fiddling but started wanting to pay for some jobs. Like repacking wheel bearings on my 5er. Not worth my time if I can pay someone 80 bucks to pack and adjust brakes.

I am starting to get that way too at 56...Still going change air and fuel filters though. Pocket some spending bucks for maybe 45 minutes of work.

All said and done, I'll stick w/my local dealer, They have been selling and servicing vehicles for me and my family for over 60 years. Don't want to screw it up now, especially with a new $50K+ rig w/warranty. Nice to be on a 1st name basis w/EVERYONE there. No problem being on the floor either should I have a question or have a comment. Small towns DO have their benefits!! Service will be done on the suggested intervals as long as I own it. Good selling point also when time comes to sell or trade.

I did normal maintenance on my class 8 trucks for 30 years. Enough is enough. I ain't a kid anymore! LOL

I hear a grit dog...Heck most brand name shops wanted 115.00 to change out fuel filter on my previous 2006 Ram diesel for a 15.00 filter!

That's just crazy!
Evidently people pay it or they wouldn't even quote that price!
2 plus hours of shop tech time plus the cost of the filters is what they quoted for something that would be done in the quickie lube lane in about 15min........
Wonder why I do all my own work and don't even bother trying to take it in.
Last oil change on my F250 gasser work truck was over $100. Granted, the company finally approved using the reccomended syn oil and extending oil changes to 5kmi so the synthetic added $ but $100+for 7 qts of oil and a filter is ********!

After calling service department to get a quote for both fuel/water filters change which would be roughly 360.00 bucks plus tax ordered 2 filters from Genos garage. 2 filters were 62.00 bucks a piece. Always changed the fuel filter on my 2006 ram CTD under hood. Just watched a couple of informative videos on you tube on the rear under frame of the truck filter change and resetting the fuel filter monitor mode.

I can relate to house knowledge comment.
I was comparing houses and in the area where I live it was nicely decorated house that went on the market for $1.7 mil.
We went over, and beside rotten front door, the lower sub-basement had stairs to wall at about 75 degrees angle.
Per my knowledge, this is about $400,000 underpinning job.
Several buyers raise the selling price to $2.1 mil.
