So I'm sure I'll get mixed opinions here. Our insurance is soon to be renewed so we are currently shopping around. Any opinions on some of the better carriers. We own a class A. Thanks.

Gieco has the best price, customer service, road service and towing. They have handled my claims with no hassles. Beat every one else hands down.

X2 on Geico. They also write full-timers insurance that was considerably cheaper then previous standard insurance policy with Progressive.

I've used GMAC (Good Sam) since we bought our 04 Imperial. The policy isn't cheap but we get great service. We've had two "accident" claims against the comp and 3 windshields. The price has gone up a couple of hundred but not like Progressive did with our old Safari. I recently did a review and found that I could get a better price thru Miller ins but they don't do cars as a bundle. Also they couldn't do an umbrella policy in SD. I also noticed that the coverages would have changed losing my cost of replacement and purchase price coverage. I went back to GMAC and learned that I would lose that coverage if I changed providers or changed coverage with them and I could not get it again. I stuck with my original agent in Sioux Falls SD and also purchased an umbrella policy thru them. That policy covers me in the case where accidents payouts exceed the coverage on my policy. Not hard to do in this day of huge suits for damages in an accident. I'm also getting a dash cam. It also covers liability on our cabin, not just vehicles. In the end my policy fees went up about $300 per year but I have far better coverage than I would have had if I changed. A note, If I had gone with Miller, my fees would have been within $50 of what I'm paying for MH, car, umbrella thru GMAC. Ron

Another feature of GS GMAC is that they have a "storage" policy where if your MH sets for the winter (or more than 30 days, I think) you can reduce the coverage to comprehensive only. This save me a couple of hundred each year. Also, during the summer, I do this same thing to our 3 other vehicles we leave at home saving another couple of hundred. This extra savings makes our policy much cheaper than any other I've been able to find.I have yet to have a claim so I have no idea if they are any good for payoffs.Ron

I've been a SF customer since I turned 16 in 1966. the fact that we're still with them is a testament to their superb customer service and competitive premium rates.

X3 on Geico. Have filed one claim on my last motorhome (awning) and it was paid out quickly and with no hassle.

Also, Geico's RV roadside assistance is TOP NOTCH. Used them when I had a flat in Benson, AZ on a Sunday night. Geico has no affiliate tow companies in the area, but referred me to a company and told me to send them the bill. I did, and they had a check in my mailbox for the full amount a week later. The agents would periodically call and check on me until I told them that the tire had been repaired.

They were also $600 cheaper per year than the next cheapest company (Progressive) which makes it even easier to recommend them.

You never really know how good a company is until you file a claim. Unless someone has had a policy and made similar claims with all the major companies, how can they claim a particular company is better than all the others?

We just got liability. But our Toyota is probably only worth 7k. Kind of nice though, don't have to worry about looks or if the children spill. :)

We full time and have National Interstate Insurance. They include Coach Net roadside assistance for both the RV and toad in their premiums. Great service. Not sure how the rates compare. Might be worth calling an agent that handles them.

Have you checked the insurance companies ratings on the J.D. Power & Associates ratings? http://www.jdpower.com/consumer-ratings/insurance/index.htm. That, and family recommendations, is how I picked my insurance company many years ago. Have kept them for 15 years now and had no surprises from them at all. In fact, no rate increases for a very long time now. But I keep reading about those who jump around between different companies end up getting big rate jumps. I'll just stay with my little, unknown, company as they have treated me well!

We use Progressive and had a roadside claim that was handled great just this past weekend. We called a couple of carriers when we bought ours last year and Progressive had the best price for the same amount of coverage. We use Safeco on our cars for the same reason. Since ours will be up in a month or so, I think I'll give GEICO a call. I don't think we tried them because they were always way more than everybody else on cars (despite the catchy commercials - miss the cavemen).

We've been insured by "Foremost Insurance Co." since we began RV'ing back in 1995. We've received nothing but the best service from them over the years and are particularily pleased with their "No-Hassle" prompt claim service.

Good luck with your choice of carriers and safe travels....

if you're not a fulltimer then add State Farm to your quote list. I've been a SF customer since I turned 16 in 1966. the fact that we're still with them is a testament to their superb customer service and competitive premium rates.
