I was with "Flo" for 8+ years. I never once complained about the rates $1200+. When I got divorced Progressive raised my rates $700 a year because I am now single. I called and asked the reason and they said company policy, single drivers pay more! Kind of like being a teenager again! Though I enjoyed feeling like a young, irresponsible wildman, I just couldn't swallow the increase. I ended up going to my agent who has my cars, house and umbrella and he cut Flo's rate by $500 a year. Yes I'm fully covered.
I can only assume this rate increase would apply if my wife had died. Oh yeah, I'm a 63 year old, retired maniac!

We have Victoria Insurance (they sponsor Mac the FireGuy), and have not had any problems with them. Their price beat Sam's (GMAC), and they also have full replacement for first 5 years. Good luck!

All of our insurance is through USAA. When we bought our first class A, we went through the USAA General Agency, who do their RV insurance through Progressive (USAA doesn't write RV insurance directly) for a policy. Compared to the cost of the RV, the cost of the policy seemed quite reasonable. When the storage building housing our class A burned to the ground less than a year after we bought the RV, Progressive handled the claim superbly (I say this having more than a little experience in the insurance industry.) I don't know if another company would have done any better, and it doesn't worry me much. Progressive did for us what they said they would do, and quickly. That works for me.

I carry Geico. They have good price and are fair on their claims. Just had someone run into me. Progressive is his carrier. Progressive took responsibility once the police report was final and mailed me my deductible. In the mean time Geico towed me to an RV park so I could make arrangements. Then they towed me to a Freightliner shop 4 hrs away. After frame and alignment was checked Gieco towed me to a body shop about an hour or so away. Geico is paying and collecting from Progressive. Repair shops said Geico is easier for them to work with. Goes without saying I am happy with Geico. They are easy to get hold of, they stay in touch, and return my calls. Requested quotes from GS but they were slow to respond and almost double other quotes I received. Same with road service and extended warranty. Would like to go with GS but bottom line they are the most expensive for my needs, which are pretty standard. Just to add, cost to repair my rig will hit 50K maybe plus.

My agreed value with Southern Owners is more than I paid for the coach, so I am happy since I have put 50,000+ miles on it since purchase. I went through the same process with my Classic Cars so I know how the system works. It is a pretty straight forward policy as far as policies go and they write it for a year with a discount if you pay in full.

Aeon is the big Motor home insurer, or was,, But that said many other companies do decent RV policies,, I'm not a fan of Flo, for mostly "Fed up with the ads" reasons.. Can not actually say anything about Progressive, it's Flo I don't like.

NATIONWIDE insures this motor home at the moment, They have done a decent job of it up to the point where wife and I bought a used JEEP.. Under both MI and SC (where we bought the jeep) law if you have an existing auto policy coverage is extended to a new purchase for a short period of time (Not sure now long but it is at least a week) to give you time to get to your agent... Well. I tried but agent did not return either E-Mail or phone call and he retired effective the day Wife totaled the car (4 days, 2 business 2 non-business after we bought it) ... Nationwide claims I made no attempt to contact and that the RV is not an automobile and refused to sign the Financial Responsibility form.

That's why Im' shopping for a new company. E-Surance covers my car.

National Interstate Insurance through LazyDays Insurance agency in Tampa. They specialize in full timers and also insure the toad. They include Coach Net road service in their premium. One claim for chipped windshield handled quickly and professionally. One time using Coach Net when toad blew a tire. Very please with Coach Net too. You're right. Not cheap, especially in Florida. Ask your agent to help you get the best coverage for the least price.

You DONT HAVE TO go with agreed coverage. You can get replacement coverage but after 5 years you cant get an actual replacement......but the premiums stay up higher that dropping down...you can end up if its TOTALED with a new coach the same identical model etc...as the one that got totaled

Wait until you buy 'full timer' insurance. Now that's expensive, but the coverage is different. Also, there are only a few companies providing full timer insurance. OP didn't say whether he was considering full time..we are with National Insurance from Explorer.....Dennis
