Interesting pricing...

Happened to be wandering around a Love's Travel Stop in Yuma Arizona today, and noticed a glass case with 'truckers' equipment in it. CB radios...running in the $250 range. Whoa, last time I checked a nice one was $50. Amazon has many under $100. With all the same features.

And then, the GPS devices. Yikes, 3.5" screen for $339. All name brands...Rand McNally mostly. You can find a truckers GPS on eBay for $50. I'm guessing that these have tunnels and bridges and narrow roads mapped out automatically so maybe the prices are justified?

But that's not what caught my eye...down in the bottom of the case was a 3,000 Watt Inverter for, on sale, $224.95! Regular price $249.95. Nice looking build too.

I didn't notice if it was modified waveform or not, but most modern electronic devices don't care anymore. Plus the modified units have improved over time and have cleaner waveforms too.

The other lower wattage units on the same shelf were low cost too...compared to what I've been seeing lately on Amazon.

Just thought I would point out what appears to be a bargain if you're looking for an inverter. Wouldn't hurt to check out your local Love's to see if they have the same unit on sale.

Did it have a cigarette lighter plug on the input wires? :)

There's a reason for that. Notice all the concrete around the truck stop to accommodate the larger turning radius'. That's why it's 50 cents more a gallon. My 40 footer with tow would never fit in a standard gas station.
  • Coming up from FL first week in Jan I pulled into a Loves near Savanah and diesel was around $3.00 a gal. I checked my Gas Buddy and about 1/4 mile down the road it was around $.50 a gal cheaper at a Kroger. My DP took about 90--100gal. Loves isn't the cheapest place on the block.
  • That's exactly why I have my wife go in and pay. If'n I don't see it, I'm not tempted to buy it.... :) ..Dennis
  • Yeah, many of the prices at truck stops seem to be set hoping for someone desperate. From what I've seen of truck stops, many of the folks hanging out there are just that :)

I'd have to think that size inverter for that much would be a pretty low end type.
