Thanks Golden but this is coming up through my feet. In an effort to isolate this s noise I wrapped wire under the outer tie rod end on the left side and the inner tie rod end on the right side. But the clanking noise is still there as well as the wrapped wire under the knuckles. I guess the next step is to remove the sprIngs raginet1 suggested. I almost believe the sound is coming from the brakes or somewhere else and being amplified by the springs. It seems the noise happens more with a yawning motion rather than pot holes.
