Even batteries that do not appear to have caps... often they do. My starting batteries are 10 years old (Interstate) and under the fairly hard plastic top with a little probing I was able to find the pair of rectangular cap holders. Every other year I have to add some water but the plates are still covered. Unfortunately my generator starts off the same batteries, but at this point I want to see how long they will last.
