As the others above, we also use the break-away option. I saw a pick-up truck pulling an older Bronco going at least or above the posted interstate speed. I happened to glace over as he was passing me as I have a habit of looking at toad connections.
To my surprise, he had a V-shaped connection to the bumper of the Bronco and just attached to the tow ball of the pick-up truck. There were no chains or anything else.
A few miles up, I see a Bronco facing me all banged up. It it had apparently come loose and rolled over and came to a stop on the right side of the interstate. Thank goodness it didn't cross lanes and hit someone head-on. What a crazy nut for that guy to tow that way.
