Invisi-Brake

I saw another post regarding a question about 'what pressure sensitivity setting owners use on their Buddy Brakes'. Since I have an Invisi-Brake it made me wonder what settings those of you who own Invisi-Brake units are using. My toad is an '05 CRV. Would appreciate your replies. Thanks! / Larry

Forgot to state that mine is now set at 1.

Don't understand your setting. Mine is set to 40psi, 04 CRV.
  • Rather than post how I set mine up (different vehicle), I e-mailed Roadmaster.

    Here is the reply:

The short answer is that we recommend 65 lbs. for the 2005 Honda CRV. Also, we have a reference chart that states the recommended pressure for many popular towed vehicles: http://roadmasterinc.com/pdf/inv_resource_guide.pdf

The long answer is that the pressure we recommend assumes the cable has been attached to the brake pedal arm as low as it can be mounted so that it is just above the brake pad you step on. Some installers mount the cable higher on the brake arm which reduces leverage. In these cases a higher air pressure is required to achieve the same braking performance.
  • From the OP: Now I'm confused. My wife is away with the CRV right now and when she returns, I'll look at it again. I recall numeric settings not psi settings. BUT, I could be wrong! It sure appears based on these replies that the settings should be pressure amounts. Thanks for this info. I'll sure take another look at it when DW returns.

O.K. ... I was dead wrong re: the comment about it being set on "1". I have no idea where I got that from! I pulled the instructions (should have done that before posting) that came with the unit and it clearly states how to raise or lower the pressure. Sorry for my goof up. / Larry
