The replies that say seek qualified legal and tax advice from professionals is spot on. To do anything else is lunacy, in my opinion.
To add fuel to the fire I'll add some other thoughts.
Say we have a company which is a LLC, Sub S or a C corporation with an operational headquarters in Montana. Are we to assume they cannot hire an employee residing in another state and provide them with a company vehicle registered to the corporation, plated in the corporations home state and based in the employees home state? If that is true then the tax auditors and enforcement people have a real problem on their hands and it far exceeds any small number of motorhome owners, because that happens every day in every state. Similar things happen with commercial trucking companies and vehicle registration, driver residence and licensing, etc.
While there is no defense provided by saying someone else is doing what I am doing so I can't be prosecuted for anything, forming a corporation for avoiding taxes in any form is simply good, smart business when done legally.
In my case I have already paid sales tax on three different motorhomes to my home state and beyond annual registration, insurance and an annual state vehicle inspection, all of which are quite reasonable priced, I see no benefit currently to change anything. Should PA change something significant, like raising registration costs significantly or adding a personal property tax, I would certainly investigate all available options to reduce my costs of ownership.
