If you are going to Yuma anyways it is definitely worth the trip. Being from the east the desert area is much different and has a stark beauty. We were there 4 or 5 days a few years ago. The show was nice flea markets were endless, and there was a lot to see in the surrounding area. Took a hike up to palms in the desert , I don't know how the got there. There is also a crystal area to hike in. A little further away is Salvation Mountain which was worth the trip. I would go again but my wife said once was enough. I think if I went with a RV club I wouldn't mind staying longer. Weather was nice warm days and cold nights.
