Schwintek slides have no problems as designed by Schwintek. It is the OEM RV builder that causes the problems. ALL the Schwintek system does is move the room IN and OUT. The room glides on floor rollers. If the Rectangle hole is not cut square, you will have problems. If the support structure of the wall cut out is NOT strong enough, you will have problems. If the slide room is not made square, you will have problems. If the OEM installers screw up on the install of the slide box, you will have problems .......
I'm on my second unit with the Schwintek slides since April of 2013 and I think my previous unit, a full wall slide Thor, had all the problems listed above. After five months in the shop for repairs, I gave up as it had not been repaired to my satisfaction. Even though I really liked the floor plan, I decided to trade it for an Itasca 35F. It also has the Schwintek slides, but it has two smaller slides and so far after nearly a year I've not had any problems and am well satisfied that Schwintek has worked out the problems with the motors and slides.
