I took delivery of a new 2014 Winnebago Journey 40U in late March with 3 Schwintek slides. The unit was prepped at Camping World in Byron, Georgia, where they applied the "CRC" fix to the noisy front slide on the passenger side. It lasted about 200 miles, then started squawking and rattling again. We took the Journey to the factory in Forest City, Iowa, in July and they applied the "Shim" fix. It lasted about 100 miles, then started the noise again. We tried the "In-Out, In-Out, In-Out-Hold" procedure advised by the factory. It was quiet for about 200 miles. Finally, while in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the mechanism "ate" the bulb seal on the inside, taking a big chunk out of the rubber. We took the unit to Camping World in Chattanooga and they replaced the torn bulb seal and said, "no big deal, you don't need that seal anyway". If there is a positive side to this, at least the slide has come in and out as it is supposed to. The noise can be abated for a brief time, using one or more of the "fixes" offered by Winnebago/Schwintek. I have gotten the distinct impression that Winnebago is not able, nor inclined to fix this problem. We talked to at least a dozen Winnebago coach owners at the Grand National Rally (GNR) in Forest City in July that had the same, or similar problems with the Lippert slides. I am surprised that there are so few posts on this forum concerning this issue.
