Is there any GPS that will do...

On some on-line mapping programs such as MapQuest and Google, you can change the recommended route to the route you want to use by simply clicking onto the recommended route and dragging to the desired route. That capability would be a great addition to a GPS unit. I have a Garmin nive 2595 and have problems getting it to 'map' the route I want. I know there are ways to do what I want on my Garmin but (to me) it's a hassle. Would love to have the capability as mentioned above. Any thoughts? Thanks, Larry
  • Larry,

I agree! We usually program in 'waypoints' or 'via' on our Garmin to alter the route. Even so, it usually redirects us into town when we're intending to just pass through it, or around it. One we hit the open road (we're in the great plains) we chuck the GPS and use the (hiss) map!

I know you can also do that in MS Streets & Trips but I am not aware of any GPS that has this drag and drop capability.

With my Garmin all I have to do is program in my way points and go. It is a machine after all and you have to tell it what to do

    I have had
    Magellian
    Tom Tom
and I'll never own one that isn't a Garmin
