ISO SMI transmitter

I am looking for a brake indicator transmitter for the old SMI Smart Box which I am still using. My transmitter was some how lost while granddaughter was using my toad. Called SMI but that transmitter is no longer available. Now using a LED light which I can see in the rear camera unless I get a lot of sun. Anyone have one to sell?
  • If no luck getting one just run a line from the led dash unit to your umbilical then from the coach end a line to your dash and install a small led light. It took me about 2 hrs to do that, most of the time was spent running the line from the rear to the front of the coach. The only time I can see the dash led on the toad is early morning or late afternoon.

    Suggest a brighter light.

There are many "Remote" Transmitters out there .Some may take a bit of technicial knowledge to get 'em working but they are out there.

How about this.. Wireless remote brake lights. Hook 'em up to the towed and put the lights on the floor of the RV with smaller bulbs in them ,
  • It's not a cheap solution, but the SMI CoachLink 900 Wireless Transmitter and Receiver Braking Indicator Set would work.

With a little work, you could get a wireless remote 12 volt switch to work...something like link below. It claims a working distance of 50 ft.

Can you get the radio frequency from SMI and then look for a generic transmitter?

  • Whaler, is it the one with a light that goes with the Stay in Play? About match box size? If so, I might be able to help you. BUT, not til after Thanksgiving because we'll be on the road and I have to contact the gent that has my old TOAD. BTW, the price will be exorbitant: an adult bev when our paths cross.
