Jack stands

Hello. I have a 1996 Monaco Dynasty and am looking for advice as to what size of jack stands do I purchase for my RV with a GVWR of 128,000 lbs? I would like to do some maintenance under the RV and even though I have hydrolic jacks I want to ensure my safety. Thank you in advice in advance.
  • Get some 2x12's and build some HD ramps, one for each wheel position. Mine are four planks high for a lift of six inches. That gives you plenty of room to work underneath safely. They are HEAVY but sturdy and will not collapse.

First, are you sure it is 128,000 lbs? A 48 foot new Dynasty with 4 slides is only 51,000 lbs.

That is alot of weight for an RV with at most one slide.

Just a typo, like your typo on a 48 foot Dynasty? Don't think they come that long.

I have 2 six ton jacks I use on my 24,000 pounder That is half the weight.
HOWEVER that said. I can crawl under my rig when it's all the way down (Good ground clearance) and it's getting easer to do as I loose tonnage (Personally) as well.. Down about 1" or 20 pounds fron what I was.

But I use the six ton's in the rear and 4 in the front (2 ton each) and never fully unload the springs or lift the wheels off the ground. Have not had an issue doing that.

My RV" hydraulics are ... Non functional at the moment
  • Assuming your rig is 28k and not 128k, I would get a pair of 12 ton Jack Stands. Nothing smaller.

I believe jack stands are rated as a pair, not as individual units.
12 tons will give you a capacity of 24 thousand pounds. That will be plenty for the front or rear end of your Dynasty.
Two pair will give you 48k capacity.

Use your hydraulic jacks to lift the Dynasty and install the Jack Stands.
  • If it is really 128,000 lbs I believe it is too heavy for the interstate system. I believe trucks are limited to 80,000 lbs. If it is 28,000 lbs I believe that 12 ton jack stands would work as all of that weight is not in one spot. JMO

They must have used some heavy steel on your frame to get to 128,000 pounds. Wow
