I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler with the I6 engine. This motor is absolutely bullet proof. I had many cars in my life but this Jeep is the most reliable of all of them. There is not too much electronic stuff. Got about 130.000 miles on it and only had to replace the brakes, radiator, valve gasket and the A/C condenser. Otherwise just oil changes every 7000-8000 miles (yes, the engine is still very clean with no sludge). As it will be a toad I think you are not going to put a lot of miles on it. It is not the quietest, fuel efficient and most comfortable vehicle on the road but I personally will never get rid of it. May daughter and dog love it as well. Just test drive one.
