Join Good Sam or just get the coverage?

I see there are two ways to go but I don't know if joining is "all that." I haven't compared the prices yet but I want to hear what you fine folks think.

I had AAA since 1998 with my cars but I cancelled it when I sold the car recently. I figured I'd go with Good Sam for RSA with the motorhome. Why mess around, right?

Looking forward to your responses. Need to make a decision asap.

  • Yes, there is the regular membership and the Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Sometimes Roadside Asst. is offered at $79. for one year. Renewing is $110. I think. We have both but have never had to use. It does apply to camper and cars. There is also a Good Sam extended warranty that can be purchased for an RV to cover components such as fridge, AC, etc
  • AAA Plus will tow you 100 miles to your desired destination.

Good Sam will tow you to the nearest repair facility, no matter how far.

We carry both and have had very good service from both companies.
  • That sounds more like the price I'd have expected. I must have been looking at membership to GS only. I will dig further.
  • I have GS Roadside Assistance, but have never had the need for their assistance. Cost me $269 for 3 years.
  • Are you pricing Good Sam membership or Roadside assistance? I can't see GSRSA at that price. I may be wrong but that is awful cheap.
  • I have Progressive insurance too but it's the bottom of the barrel insurance, just to get me started. With all those $1K deductibles, I just think it's an absolute rip off. You choose a lower deductible and your rate goes up.

I'll go ahead and join Good Sam. I looked at the price and it's only $25 a year. How can that be?? How many service calls does that give you? I think I'll do the 2 years for $50.
  • Check the towing distance restrictions of AAA compared to Good Sam.
  • Check your rv insurance. You may already have it. I did with Progressive.
  • If you ask me I have had them for 4 years now and prefer Good Sam to AAA.
    Always given me good service.
