Just an observation re: Ford chassis...

Over the years, I've seen many, many posts regarding any number of problems with, for example: fogged windows, leveling jacks, slides, steps, Norcolds, tires, etc. I could go on but you get the idea. What I do not see are problems being posted concerning the Ford chassis w/the V-10 engine. Earlier ones did have a problem spitting out plugs but other than that, there have been very few posts describing problems with this chassis. I'm on my second one now and have had zero chassis problems (knock on wood!). Point: This is obviously an exceptionally dependable, trouble free product. Does anyone see it differently?

  • I went to the F-53 after having had the F-450 in a C class with the post plug spitting V-10. I've had 3 of the F-53 chassis based RVs, two with the Mor/Ryde suspension and one without. The Mor/Ryde on the current and short lived previous RV was an obvious major improvement. Even the pile of junk RV I bought and dumped after a few weeks over unresolved slide problems for a sizeable loss had absolutely no problems With the Ford chassis. The Current, a 13/14 Itasca 35F rides and handles very well at the speeds, 62 to 65, that I drive. Jus an added note, it the weather is bad, windy and/or wet, I drop speed accordingly.
  • Maybe because we don't get many posts about Ford chassis problems means there are very few problems.

As you said, we get complaints about many different subjects. I think the lack of complaints about the Ford chassis (and others) is a tribute to the manufacturer.
  • Only had mine for 8 months but good so far. I have read a few posts about the new version with issues with the tow/haul feature, and loose bolts but for the most part very positive.
