That stuff's fun. It's not like todays "all computer" setups. I suspect that with a bit of help from some of our "seasoned" vets here, you'll have it going in no time. There's not all that many wires to the ignition switch is there? If it's a GM, then all you need really is an older "Mitchells" manual or, maybe even a Clymers, or, some of the other popular ones sold at many auto parts stores.
Some of those had wiring diagrams in them and with the colors of the wires. GM wiring is GM wiring, no different than most other GMs of the same era. If it's a Ford, than the same applies. Too bad I'm not in the area, that would be fun to help you with. Let us know how you make out on it.
