Your problem is your choice of campgrounds.. You see you are on the coast where the ice is kind of THICK (unless it has melted and I don't think so).
I'm on the other side of the State (Oconee County) where it is cold, but roads are clear and dry.. Try going to Reserve America and check out South Cove County Park in Seneca SC. You just might have a new favorite campground.
THe campground is what I believe is called a 'Jetty" (Finger of land extending out into a body of water) though they designate some sites as "Waterfront" all of them are what I'd call waterfront (The ones they call Waterfront. Well if you are not careful walking around your RV you might just get wet) 15.00/night this time of year, More "in season". Lots of vacant sites
