- Why is it worth (cost) $2 million? I'm guessing it's built out of iPhones.

Prevost is NOT a chassis. Prevost is a fully factory built bus and is NOTHING like a you would get if you were just buying a chassis from Ford, Freightliner or anyone else. This is as far as you can get to an Apples and Oranges comparison.
Yet another difference... the attitude of a $2 million dollar coach owner. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer II

It's all about quality and craftsmanship. Building a quality coach takes more time than just hacking them out in volume and the labor costs are greater as a result. Also, you can't just go out onto the street and hire craftsmen, you usually need to entice them away from a competitor.
The difference in price between a Ford chassis and a Prevost bus chassis doesn't account for the difference. It's all about the quality of the finished product.

Our Prevost converter allows 1,100 man hours to complete the exterior with many coats of paint and clear coat..... smooth as glass.
The fit and finish and components of a Prevost Emerald/Outlaw vs. a Prevost Liberty will be very obvious.

Those are just a few features I gleaned from the ads for USED luxury motorhomes with $1 million plus asking prices. - larry_barnhartExplorerMy friend doesn't have a very high end MH but it is the shop getting a $20,000.00 overhaul so maybe being a Phaethon tiffin the Cummins engine isn't the same as high end models. Low miles with good maintenance .

What could make a $2 million motorcoach worth a $1 million more than a $1 million motorcoach?
Sorry, but I think I spend a lot more time trying to figure out how to get a $.5 Million dollar coach for a $100K.
But hey, that's just me! - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIWhen you are talking about vehicles that are hand made, one of a kind, vehicles, ANYTHING that adds extra man hours and more expensive materials to a project will impact the final selling price.
This does not mean that a more expensive coach is worth more to everyone since those custom items are usually choices made by the buyer to suit their own taste and preferences which will undoubtedly be different than someone elses.
Most people are happy, or have to settle for, off the rack vehicles that are sent down the production line and assembled by workers that may, or may not, have superior skills for their assigned task. In any case, a task must be finished when the clock says it is time to move on to the next vehicle in line.
Most custom vehicles are not built by a strict time schedule and are assembled by more highly skilled, and higher paid, craftsmen.
The cost of a custom vehicle is usually not a concern to someone that wants a vehicle built to their standards.
I restored several Classic Cars to museum quality examples. When I would put them up for auction there were always people willing to pay more than $100,000 for a vehicle that sold originally for around $3000. There are always people that are willing and able to pay for the best and custom RV's are just one example.
