I put some pieces of the rubber non-skid material on about half of each shelf along the back. This allows the air to circulate and keeps jars and other things from sliding about. On the front part of the shelf, I put bread, hamburger buns or similar type items that will fill the shelf. This has worked successfully for us for thousands of miles.
I also cut strips of non-skid to fit on the shelves in the doors where I keep soda and beer cans. This stops those ugly aluminum can marks on the shelf. When we traded our last unit in after well over 1000 nights of usage, the fridge still looked new.
