Kitchen countertop

I'm trying to replace the waterlines, the sink and the Fossett in the kitchen and like to put a new countertop on it but trying to get the countertop loose.....it won't break free of the stove does the stove need to come out before the countertop comes off ?
this is an old Bounder any help would be appreciated also can I use any Fossett from the Home Depot to replace my kitchen faucet or does water pressure have to be an issue with the homestyle Fossetts compared to a motorhome style unit.
Thank you for any help,
Eric

  • The stove came out just as told, thank you all, and it's not going back in, I'm changing over to induction cooking top and convection microwave oven, so no need for this bulky old thing.
Adding two GFI switches and a whole new counter top and backsplash , a W/D will go where stove was,( later, when budject allows) so in the mean time will be storage for my pots and pans with slide out draws
    Remodeling is such fun...lol
And thanks to this site and all the great people it's possible
    Thanks again,
    Eric
  • Thanks Richard

    The gas is off...

    Eric,

Lift the stove cook top and you'll find a screw in each corner, holding in the stove. While you're there you'll see the end of the copper gas line, Unhook it. (need I have to tell you to turn the gas off?) Look closely where the oven door hinges are and you'll find two more screws on the very bottom, outside edges, holding the stove in.
Once all six screws are removed and the copper gas line is unhooked, pull the stove forward, being careful of the gas line.
It's a five minute, one man job.

    X2, what Richard said!

  • I did remove the screws, how hard is the store ? Are the gas connections tricky ?
I was thinking of removing it anyway, and installing a convection microwave oven then a induction cook top and perhaps putting a washing machine in where the stove was ?
    Just a thought.
  • Any faucet will work just fine as most new coaches use standard faucets anyway. Mine are all Moen and work just fine.
As for the stove needing to come out is anyones guess but there may be some attachments behind it so it may be wise to atleast pull it and look.
Most counter tops are screwed and glued down so it may just take some mussel to get it loose. let us know how it works out.
  • there are screws along the bottom of the countertop and yes the stove comes out
any faucet is fine just match the holes up
