KVH Trackvision in motion sat dish will become obsolete!

I just talked to a tech support person @ KVH and they told me that my KVH trackvision sat dish "Model LM" will not work with MY Direct TV Model D10 SD receiver by the end of 2013.

Has any one heard of this?

DTV is aparently going to make my receiver obsolete by the end of the year and the newer receivers will not work with my LM Trackvision forcing me to buy an new RV satelite dish system.

Peaches&cream, what KVH model do you have. Our model is "LM trackvision" from 2002.

My satalite system is listed as a KVH TracVision L2/S2. It is installed in a 2005 Holiday Rambler Ambassador.
  • I just removed a KVH-LM Tracvision purchased in 2002.

I have been using a Sony A-65 receiver to aim the dish. That receiver had origins prior to 2002 and still worked.

Perhaps Direct TV will not allow new cards to be issued for your old receiver, but will allow you to continue to use your receiver for future years.

I replaced the KVH with the Winegard Min/Max in motion receiver. It was a 1 hour install process. The new dome locked on the satellite quickly and worked fine in motion. It is also about 60% of the weight and size of the LM. The cost from an Amazon source was $950 vs the $2000+ spent on the LM 11 years ago.

  • I have a KVH Satalite system which I used the Model 10 receiver with. My system also has a switch that enables manual searching. I have used a H24-100 receiver with success and used the manual search. I use the H24-100 in my stick home and move it to the MH when we travel.
  • Yep, just found this out as well. Bummer as this was one of the reasons we selected the coach we did. It came with the satellite.
