My 'C' has a Kwickee step. If I have the switch in the "down" position, the step stays that way - as long as the engine isn't running. Doesn't matter if the door is closed or open. If I start the engine, the step retracts no matter what. If I turn the switch to the "up" position when the engine is off, the step goes up when the door is closed and down when the door is open, but I just leave it in the "down" position all the time. But I look to make sure before I step down. Nothing is idiot proof to a sufficiently talented idiot.
