You mention that the unit has "fallen out" several times. Do you mean the entire step motor assembly? Why would this happen? If it were me I would solve the root of the problem and replace with a new unit. Sounds like the individual gears aren't available anyway.
I wondered about that too. There is only ONE TIME anything ever "Fell out" on my steps..
It is my belief that Kwikee uses "2nds" for the motor. the motors often have a "Dead spot" and if it stops on a dead spot. the steps won't work.. Tapping motor with hammer (handle end) moves it just off the dead spot and steps work again.. next page
So I opened the transmission (After spreading a tarp below it to catch anything that fell) and "re-indexed" the motor so it stopped at a different spot (Sounds hard but it simply means when I opened the tranny and removed the gear the steps retracted half way. I put the gear back and that's that) .
But with the tranny closed up (Screws in place) NO WAY can anything fall save the entire step assembly.. And I fixed that too.
