Sounds like the State robbed "Peter" to pay "Paul"......get what you can cuz it ain't gonna last forever......rents are like anything else...it's what the market will bear...if they're too high, he'll have too many vacancies and "bingo" the State will be able to sell it again...IMHO, he's raised the rates to effect a "voluntary" eviction. Done many times in the past, especially if there are leases involved that weren't set aside by the auction.. Once the property is clean then he can start fresh or sell the land for a hotel, big box store or whatever the highest and best use of the land foretells.........Dennis
Very good point Dennis! This guy owns the hotel (and leases the land from the State) that has the neon lights going across the top of it on the Island about a 1/4 mile before you get to the Islander RV Park. I know Jim Santiago wanted that lease because he owns outright the land that is in the old part of the Beachcomber just in front of the new part of the Beachcomber! It sounds like to me that Jim bid it up and dropped it on him! It will be interesting to see what happens? I'm not going to stay at the Beachcomber anymore when I go down there in the winter due to this guys attitude! Islander RV here I come!
