Next mid- December will be heading for California from WI. This is a trip we have made somewhat frequently but this year we want to stop in Palm Desert for a few days before heading for LA and Dockweiler to spend xmas with kids. We prefer to watch the weather and connect with 40 for our trip out. Really saves a lot of miles as the other option is the 10. Have to rule out the 70 in winter. Driving a 37 foot gas motorhome towing a Smart car. So my question is what is the best route to get to Palm Desert where we enjoy the Emerald Desert RV Resort? It appears that 95 from Lake Havasu City is the best option but open to suggestions.

95 to I-10 is not a problem. Or AZ/62 to CA-62 would be fine for you as well.....just monitor the weather....especially the winds.

I 40 down 95 through Lake Havasu to I 10 is not a problem, so you can use either interstate, depending on weather conditions.

AZ 95 is less bleak than CA 95.

Lake Havasu City, AZ. to Palm Desert, CA. I would take Arizona #95 to Quartzsites, AZ. then get on I-10 West (at Quartzsites) to Palm Desert, CA. then on to Los Angeles. When you leave L.A. I recommend I-40 to take on your way back. Have a fun trip.

I'd top off in Parker. Last week Ehrenberg was 3.79/gal vs. 3.47 in Parker. Calif. was running 4.00 + at best except Costco, Sams.

When you get to the main traffic light in Parker, turn left. Go about 1/2 mile and turn right on Mohave Road. Look for the Hospital sign. If you pass the Chevy dealer on the left, you missed it.

Straight down about 30 miles to Ehrenberg and I-10.

Point of Order! Top off fuel at the Flying J in Ehrenberg before you cross into California. California gas (and diesel) prices are insane.

Plus 3 for Mohave Rd. Virtually flat and boring but a good road with little traffic.

This is the best route. Mohave Rd is about 1 mile south of Parker.

Calif. 95 is a narrow 2 lane road with few pull out areas in the event of any mechanical or tire problms. There are no services. Ariz. 95 is my choice:)

If yu take Mohave rd. from Parker, AZ through Poston to Ehrenberg rather than 95 to I-10 you cut off quite a few miles. Good road thru flat farmland.
