- charlesExplorerRoger, that is the remote. I'm at home now and not at my storage building so I can't compare the instruction pages, just going from memory. What I don't remember seeing is the program instructions on page two. What I have attached to the installation pages is a small piece of paper with the instructions that are on page 4 of your attachment and that is where my problem came from, it doesn't mention anything there regarding memory or how to progam it to re-inflate to the selected pressure. Even after reading this, which helps quite a bit, it still is rather confusing, at least to me. Thank you for finding that for me.
Nick - My_RoadtrekExplorerIs this what you have? Remote instructions scroll down to step 7.
http://www.firestoneip.com/site-resources/ride-rite/installation/2489.pdf - charlesExplorerThe batteries are fresh so that's not the problem, all of the buttons light up, I just don't know what they are for. The instructions are fairly generic, such as "set to the recommended pressure" but it doesn't say how to do it. I might be missing a page or something as the operating instructions are only 3 or 4 steps and it is stapled to the installation instructions which are several pages. I though there would be someone on here that has them as I'm sure I'm not the only person here with a 2012 or 2013 Excel but maybe the remote was an option, I'll figure it out when I have more time by calling Firestone while sitting in the van.
Thanks,
Nick - retraiteExplorerNick,
This is a bit "off", but, maybe similar.
We have a PW Lexor on which we've installed AirLift airbags with a wireless controller. Airlift is a competitor to Firestone RideRite.
I've found that the wireless controller eats batteries. Ours has two AA batteries, and "new" batteries last less than a full season. I don't change the pressures frequently, but I think the wireless controller regularly checks the bag pressures to see if anything needs doing.
In our case, though I still have the wireless controller manual, I can also get it from the manufacturer (AirLift) website. Maybe you can do the same with Firestone.
Our installation is "independent" - i.e., we can independently control the bag on either side, and I'd suspect yours is similarly built. Thus, out controller allows me to change the pressure in both bags simultaneously, or each bag independently - my choice.
The good news is, once you've figured it out, you'll love 'em.
One more thought. If you're still having trouble, if you'd post the "instructions" you have (yes, that'll take a bit of typing), you may well find that you get a much better explanation of how to use what you have.
Cheers. - charlesExplorerThe Excel used to have the rocker switches and gauges in the center of the front overhead cabinet. They now have the compressor under one of the rear seats but no manual switches to run it, at least not that I can find. I really cannot figure out how to use this thing. The only good thing about the change is there is a nice full width front overhead cabinet now.
Nick - Bob_N_ExplorerHi,
We have an older LTV on a Dodge chassis and our Firetone air ride works as dicktill describes in one of the above posts. Very simple and straightforward. I don't understand why manufacturers insist on taking a simple system that works well and making it so complex that people can't understand it---I guess that's what they call progress. - charlesExplorerIt is wireless and programmable but the instructions seem to be missing a few steps, can't figure it out.
Nick - dicktillExplorerDon't have one of these, but it should be pretty simple. Try pushing up on the left hand switch/paddle, and the gauge should show the pressure in the left air bag, and it should rise. You may need the ignition or house battery on depending on how it is wired. Pushing down on the same switch/paddle should lower the pressure. Working the right hand switch/paddle should do the same for the right hand air bag.
The above is based on the Firestone controls I've seen. If by "remote" you mean wireless, then it may be totally different.
Good luck, Dick - charlesExplorerI don't know when they started using these but hopefully someone that knows how to use it will reply.
Nick - k6dcpExplorerThat's a good question. I'd appreciate info on that, too, for my 2009 Sprinter. I'm assuming the controls are similar, not trying to hijack the thread.
