Laws about TOADS?

We have our Miata on a tow dolly behind our 23 foot motorhome, and we are headed to California from Arizona. Will we encounter any problems with the law since it is on the tow dolly backwards? The steering wheel is strapped down to keep the front wheels straight and it tows well. Any suggestions, ideas, warnings before we get out on the road?

  • I didn't see in the state laws, which direction the car had to be on a tow dolly. Just make sure everything else is to law. Lights, tie downs, etc.
  • Just remember that in CA you are limited to 55 MPH when towing.
  • Thanks. We are still looking into it. The laws in California state that it can be towed either way. We want to be safe and avoid ruining the automatic transmission.
  • Cars dollies should not be used to tow cars in a backward position. Most dolly mfgs also note this caution. Just my $.02. Happy camping.
