I put strips in my fluorescent ceiling lights about a year ago
So far everything is still working good, I haven't noticed any dimming

The cut up strips do not, so voltage has to be controlled, not to high

Lights at night are almost always pure battery voltage, not 14+ converter voltage
Another thing is heat
Several members have posted about using double sided sticky tape to hold the strips to the fixture
This insulates the strip and it gets warmer
The strips are self adhesive, I cleaned the fixtures with alcohol and stuck the strip to the metal, this creates a heat sink for the strip
As a measure of added security, I use a few drops of glue along the edge of the strip and the ends
Nothing has come loose, everyone is stays cooler and is still bright
