I also had some strips go bad, then got thinking about it and the strips I had were rated for 12 volts and my inverter supplies 13.6 to the battery bank, therefor the strips were being over driven burning out some led's and associated electronics also turning the water proof ones brown. I installed "buck boost converters" inline and then regulated the supply voltage down to 11 volts max. This also allows you to dim them if they are to bright for the application. Have had no more issues for 3 years. Google "buck boost converters" for info and they only cost about $2.00 apiece on line' so if they don't work for you no great loss. Hope this helps.
