Kayteg is correct the alternater should be charging the house batterys as u travel also to note not all motor homes are wired alike there is a ton of varyations. Steps are sometimes chassis and sometimes coach for example

If u need to charge the chassis battery off the gen set just hold or tape the boost button to the on position
